Museo de Alcalá C/ Juez Pérez Díaz, 2, Alcalá de Guadaíra, ES, España

Open since last March 22 at the Museum the exhibition 'TIME OF LANDSCAPES. Painters of the School of Alcalá de Guadaíra, 1850- 1950', which will become the permanent tour of the museum the next five years. Only a collection of paintings such as this one could have made us face such an important transformation of our space.

It is well known that Alcalá de Guadaíra became during the last third of the 19th century and the first decades of the 20th century a favorite destination for one of the best Spanish generations of landscape painters, who turned the Alcalá de Guadaíra riverbanks, together with its flour mills or the medieval castle, into the protagonists of works that today are present in some of the best museums or collections in the world.

Artists such as Emilio Sánchez Perrier, José Pinelo, Manuel García Rodríguez, Nicolás Alpériz or Winthuysen, among others, were the main architects of that golden age of landscape painting in Alcalá, and they all return home through a collection of paintings and drawings that will shine as never before in the four rooms on the first floor of the museum, in the city that inspired them and where they were created. The arrival of these seventy-three works is a very important qualitative step in the attractiveness of the cultural and tourist offer of the municipality, and it is a milestone for the museum to bring to the citizens a fundamental part of the heritage related to history, unique artistic expressions and local identity. For all these reasons, it is an honor for us to invite you to the inauguration of the exhibition
