Alcalá Cultural Center

The Gutiérrez de Alba Theater was named after the local poet and playwright José María Gutíerrez de AlbaThe building was built in the city on the occasion of the Universal Exposition of 1929. It was completed in 1931 and remodeled again at the end of the twentieth century.

It is a unique building with a capacity for about 400 spectators that receives thousands of visits every year due to its extensive cultural program, which is complemented by the requests of social and cultural entities that organize their own conventions and events.

The Gutiérrez de Alba Theater is the main social and cultural center of Alcalá, where all kinds of performing arts and cultural events are held throughout the year: speeches, conferences, honorary galas, theater shows, dance, thematic cinema, children’s shows, carnival competitions, etc.
