Any visitor resident outside the European Union can ask for VAT's refund (Value Added Tax, Spanish IVA) charged on your shopping in our town. Spanish Law marks that the minimum purchase made in a shop must be 90.15 € in order to request a Tax Free invoice. The aforementioned refund must be asked for in the shop, showing the corresponding accreditation of residence. In a period not higher than 3 months the buyer will have to show the invoice(s) and purchased items at the Customs for its stamping, and at a later time to ask for the refunding in any one of the offices that different authorized companies have.
According the European Community agreements, travellers cannot take food of animal origin for their own consumption as part of their baggage into Spain, with the exception of children's powdered milk in commercial packing. Regarding any other kind of food, it will be only allow to be introduced up to a maximum 1-kilogram weight.
The minimal age legally permitted for alcohol and tobacco purchase and consumption is 18 years.
According 28/2005 Act from December 26 and European Standards, smoking is forbidden in public buildings, health and teaching centres, railway, maritime and urban means of public transport (except at open air facilities), also in night clubs or leisure facilities wherever under age (18) people are allowed to come in, etc. Due to this Act's widely restrictive character, before you smoked inside a local we suggest you consulted this point with the establishment staff.
According to Administrative Authorities Bill, purchase and consumption of alcoholic drink in the street is forbidden and, in general, in open spaces outside the areas the corresponding Town Council had established as allowed to it.
