You will be able to get this card in your home country at the correspondent Health institution.
Private surgeries and hospitals do not accept the EHC. If you wish to receive medical attention in this kind of centres, you will have to pay these expenses on your own account or to take out an insurance policy that covers them.
If you forget your EHC, you will have to pay in advance the hospital, medical and pharmaceutical costs and request their refund to the Public Health entity you are affiliated to, always showing the corresponding invoices.
Tourists from Andorra, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay and Peru will need a special certification of his home country to receive health care at our town and in the rest of Andalusia.

If you come from a different country from the before mentioned ones, you will have to pay for medical care, so it would be advisory to contract a medical insurance.
In any case, we recommend you to get informed, through the Public Health entity you are affiliated to about the requirements in force that you will have to meet in order to receive health care in Andalusia/ Spain.
You do not need to get vaccinated against any disease if you are travelling to Andalusia/Spain, although, as in any part of the world, it is recommended to get the tetanus vaccine reminder if you are going to be in contact with environment and rural areas.
Medicines can be purchased at Chemists' shops, being their commercial identification sign a green cross. We remind you that it is the doctor who will prescribe in each case the adequate treatment.
